iOS 6: What the Internet knows so far...

We're all anticipating the announcement of the iPhone 5 (or just iPhone) in September.  To come with the new iPhone 5 is the next version of iOS.  Earlier this year in June, we got a sneak peak of what iOS 6 had to offer.  What was revealed in June that we know for sure will be hitting the new iOS was the announcement of Apple ditching Google Maps and using their own new Maps app with turn-by-turn navigation power by TomTom.  Also Passbook to hold people credit cards, boarding passes, movie tickets, etc; a better Siri and using FaceTime over celluar data.

We'll we already knew the above, but what else is coming to iOS 6? PCWorld thinks these new features may come to the new iOS...or possibly not at all:

Wi-Fi Plus Cellular
Ability to automatically switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data if an app is having problems connecting to Wi-Fi

Bluetooth File-Sharing
Apps may be able to request Bluetooth sharing functionality to swap photos, calendar dates, reminders, and contacts.

More Icons // Resloution Bump
Rumors about a fifth row of icons have been circulating since May, but 9to5 Mac was able to use Apple’s developer tools to create a five-icon iPhone layout using the latest beta version of iOS 6 and suggests iOS 6 will support a new resolution of 640 by 1136.

No YouTube
Apple says the company’s license to include the YouTube app has expired, and obviously won’t be renewed, but Google is supposedly working on a new YouTube app to be distributed through Apple's App Store.

There you have it.  Are you excited for the upcoming iOS 6 update?  Or you don't care and you just want the iPhone?  Yeah, I figured!  Have a great weekend!
