Virtual Reality is getting revamped and it's going to be better and affordable then ever before, thanks to the company known as Oculus. Oculus, yesterday, posted a project to be funded with a goal of $250,000 to begin the development of a very beta product dubbed as the Oculus Rift.
Looking like a pair snow skiing goggles, Oculus has produced several developer kits to be sent out to game developers to help produce this product. Though, you'll have to donate about $300 to get your hands on the Dev Kit, and it seems they are already out, at least on that price level!
Oculus Rift is a new virtual reality (VR) headset designed specifically for video games that will change the way you think about gaming forever. With an incredibly wide field of view, high resolution display, and ultra-low latency head tracking, the Rift provides a truly immersive experience that allows you to step inside your favorite game and explore new worlds like never before.
We're here raising money on Kickstarter to build development kits of the Rift, so we can get them into the hands of developers faster. Kickstarter has proven to be an amazing platform for accelerating big and small ideas alike. We hope you share our excitement about virtual reality, the Rift, and the future of gaming.
This project is endorsed by John Carmack from id Software, and others from such companies like EPIC Games and Valve. If you would like to 'backers' to this project, visit the Kickstarter site to see varies pledge prices and gifts that come along with those pledges.
