Google's Nexus 4 by LG. Coming Nov. 13th, Starting @ $299...NO LTE!

Google's new flagship phone, the Nexus 4 by LG, was also unveiled today.  Coming Nov. 13th with starting price tag for the 8GB model at $299 and the 16GB model at $349.  Though, T-Mobile will offer the phone unlocked at $199 w/two-year contract.  Here are the specs:

LG Nexus 4 (8GB $299 // 16GB $349 // T-Mobile $199)
*Colar: Black
*4.7-inch IPS LCD
*1250x768 w/320ppi
*Android 4.2
*HSPA+
*Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GPS/NFC
*Quad-Core Snapdragon S4
*2GB RAM
*1.3 Megapixel Front Camera
*8 Megapixel Rear Camera
*1080p Video Recording

Did you notice something missing from the specs? Why, yes...there's no LTE! What's the story behind that?

"...Google can't sell an LTE device, as there's simply no access to LTE networks without working with carriers in one way or another: Verizon and Sprint's LTE networks still require compatibility with their 3G CDMA systems, and there's essentially no such thing as an unlocked CDMA device. AT&T's infant LTE network runs on different frequencies than other LTE networks around the world, so Google would have to build a custom phone for just 77 markets in the US. Doing that without AT&T's financial assistance makes little sense."

Andy Rubin of Google put it this way: "Tactically, we want to make sure the devices are available for every network on the planet." For now, that means that the Nexus 4 will only be available as an unlocked HSPA+ device.
