Windows 7 will be approaching it's 2 year anniversary of its launch date in October. But rumors of Windows 8 are beginning to leak out, giving us evidence of what to expect in the 2012 release of Windows 8. Ready to find out?
Hit the break to read more.
If you don't already know, or haven't taken the time to explore what Windows 8 may have to offer, then here's a break down of what most of the techs out there already do know:
Windows 8 UI:
For the most part, it will still continue to look like Windows 7, with the difference of possible added UI features that the current Windows Phone 7 looks like. Evidence is show in the Windows 8 lock screen. As you can see in the image below (click on image for full resolution), the new lock screen shows the time, day of week, the date, ease of access, and for portable devices, the icons for power management.
Do yo have Microsoft Office '07 or '10 or any of the news Windows Live Essentials 2011? Well, if so, you have been introduced to what is know to be 'the Ribbon' interface. This, as well, will be integrated to the new Windows 8, whether you love it or hate it. This will replace drop-down menus in the toolbar in Windows 8's Explorer windows, which make more discoverable. Probably come in handy with future touch devices.
Windows Sync: AKA 'The Cloud'
Some of you are probably already familiar with those cheesy Microsoft Windows commercials with the catchy cat phrase 'To the Cloud.' Well, now Windows 8, as seen in evidence in the previous images, is going to integrate a 'Web Sharing' button so that now it'll be possible to store music, images, files, etc. A program know as Windows Live Mesh, will probably be the compatible program that will be used to sync your files. This comes handy, because even when your computer is offline, you can still view and work on any of your files.
The 'Web Sharing' will probably likely use Windows Live SkyDrive, that comes automatically when you sign up for a Windows Live account. SkyDrive offers its users 25GB of free online storage. This will probably integrate with Office.
The Future of Xbox 360/ Kinect with Windows 8:
As many other blogs and technology websites have shown is that many people out there have been able to hack the Kinect to show that Kinect has a lot more potential. So with Kinect integrated with Windows 8, the possibilities are beyond limited. What is known so far is that Windows 8 is going to come with face recognition and proximity detection to startup and unlock PCs.
Its no surprise either that Microsoft will be integrating the Xbox Live gaming experience with Windows 8. Basically, anything Xbox can do right now, Windows 8 will be able to do as well online. It'll be a new gaming experience for Windows users.
The 128-Bit
We already accustom to the 32-Bit and 64-Bit, but the new Windows 8 will have a 128-Bit. This will be used for Windows 8 kernel and for Windows 9 project plan! (We don't even have Windows 8 and they are already talking about 9!) This will be the next leap to performance.
That is all that is known for now, but more sources will be popping out almost daily of new advances and things to be in the next version of Windows.
